Audi unveils striking A6 Avant E-Tron concept

After previewing the all-electric A6 back in April last year, Audi has unveiled a new wagon concept dubbed the A6 Avant E-Tron.

Built on the same modular Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture that the automaker developed with sister brand Porsche, the new Avant concept shares very similar design elements to the standard A6.

Up front, there’s a body-color insert that replaces the traditional grille, with sleek headlights featuring Matrix LED technology for a more futuristic look. Moving rearward, the roofline curves up just above the front passengers, slowing to an aggressive spoiler connected to a steep D-pillar. The rear then focuses around an OLED digital light bar that Audi will make customizable for customers. Best of all, while Audi is calling this design a concept, they also say many of its elements will be retained for the final production model.

“I can promise you that a lot of what we show here will be seen and seen on the road,” says Audi designer Wolf Siebers. “That’s the beauty of my job: We’re working on a concept, but at the same time we’re also working on a production car, so the fascination that this concept evokes is what we want to put on the wheels. The production model will be about 90% or 95% made from what you see here. Of course, we’ll have to change some details, like adding door handles; that’s not something we can do yet.”

In terms of power, the A6 Avant E-Tron will be powered by two electric motors, one on each axle to provide quattro all-wheel drive, which are connected to a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery. The powertrain will produce 469 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, with a maximum range of about 434 miles. When connected to a 270 kW fast charger, you can travel 300 km in just 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, the A6 Avant E-Tron will not be coming to the US market, but Audi says it will be available in other countries around the world before the end of 2023.
