A fatal accident between a container truck with number L 9367 UX and a Suzuki Ertiga car number W 1743 CW, at the fork in Jalan Raya Bungah, Bungah District, which resulted in the Ertiga driver being killed at the scene, Wednesday (19/5/2022).

The victim is identified as Sudiyono (60), a resident of Jalan Budi Santoso 78 RT 08 RW 02, Sembayat Village, Manyar District, Gresik Regency, East Java, Indonesia. He died in the car he was driving after being crushed by the container body until it was crushed after being hit.

Meanwhile, the container driver, Suwano (44), a resident of Tegalrejo Village RT 09 RW 02, Widang District, Tuban Regency suffered a number of injuries. He was rushed to the Islamic Hospital (RSI) Mabarrot NU Bungah, Bungah District for treatment.

Meanwhile, Head of Gresik Police Traffic Unit, AKP Engkos Sarkosi said that this traffic accident involving a container truck with license number L 9367 UX with a Suzuki Ertiga car number W 1743 CW at the fork in Jalan Raya Bungah resulted in one death.

"Ertiga's driver died at the scene. Meanwhile, the container truck driver was injured," said AKP Engkos.

According to him, the accident was initially suspected to have occurred in the brake failure of the container truck. "It is suspected that the truck had a failed brake," he said.

Continuing with Engkos' words, the police then conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP), and evacuated the carcass of the vehicle involved in the accident. "We have evacuated the vehicle," he said.

He explained the chronology of the traffic accident when the Ertiga vehicle number W 1743 CW driven by Sudiyono was traveling from west to east. Arriving at the T-junction of Jalan Raya Bungah, then turn right (south).

"The provisional suspicion is that the vehicle did not anticipate a vehicle traveling from north to south, so it collided with a container truck with Nopol L 9367 UX driven by Suwarno," he explained.

"The factors that influenced the accident were because the Ertiga driver when crossing the road did not prioritize the straight path," he concluded.
