Erick Thohir: Palace to ASN Infrastructure Connected to the Internet this August

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, ensured that facilities and infrastructure in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), such as the Presidential Palace and the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) flats, have been connected to electricity on the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

"I also want to ensure that the supply of energy needs, both electricity and gas, as well as internet connections, can be met for the Presidential Palace, government offices, ministerial official residences, ASN housing and other supporting facilities," he said in a post on his Instagram account, quoted Monday (1/7/2024).

During his visit to review the construction of the IKN on Saturday (29/6/2024), Erick also ensured that supporting facilities such as electricity and internet connections were safe ahead of the Indonesian Independence Ceremony at the IKN on August 17, 2024.

"I am returning to the Indonesian Capital City [IKN] to check the readiness of BUMN companies to provide facilities for the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence," he said.

In addition to ensuring the availability of electricity and internet channels, Erick also emphasized that his party has prepared a supply of gas and electricity for the IKN.

The source comes from a solar power plant (PLTS) that had its groundbreaking some time ago.

In addition, the electricity supply in the IKN will also come from an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or uninterrupted power supply and through an emergency generator.

Along with that, Erick Thohir claimed that the progress of the readiness is in line with the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Alhamdulillah, the important assignment given by President Jokowi to us in the ministry and BUMN companies has been going well so far," he concluded.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) noted that the progress of the IKN development had reportedly reached 81% until the period of May 2024. In its report, a number of infrastructure projects were targeted to be ready to operate in stages from June to early August 2024. The acceleration of development was carried out in order to make a success of the series of capital city relocations to the Archipelago which began with the implementation of the 79th Indonesian Independence Ceremony on August 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, a number of projects that are targeted to be ready to operate before August 17 include the Sepaku Water Treatment Plant (IPA), transmission and distribution pipe networks, and the KIPP IKN water reservoir with a capacity of 2 x 6000 liters.

In addition, the 26 km multi-utility tunnel (MUT) and the Sepaku Semoi Dam are also projected to be fully filled (16 million m³) by the end of May 2024. Currently, the impounding of the Sepaku Semoi Dam is only 0.5 meters left to the peak height of the spillway (limpas).
