Private Vehicles Dominate 47% of Homecoming Movement 2022

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that in the implementation of this year's homecoming, according to the survey results of potential travelers, private vehicles have dominated the homecoming movement. On the other hand, the number of traffic accidents has also decreased significantly.

It was noted that the number of vehicles passing on toll roads leaving Jabodetabek during Lebaran 2022 increased by 1.7% compared to Eid 2019. Meanwhile, the number entering Jabodetabek increased by 11.8% compared to Eid 2019.

"Our research that private vehicles dominate about 47% of the total movement is proven and the movement occurs at certain times. So this must be managed properly," explained the Minister of Transportation when closing the activities of the 2022 Integrated Lebaran Transport Command Post, yesterday (10/5). /2022).

The Minister of Transportation explained that although the use of private vehicles has increased, there has also been a decrease in the number of traffic accidents by 45%, based on data from the National Police.

"The decrease in traffic accidents has also been followed by a decrease in travelers using motorbikes. I would like to thank the people who have followed the government's advice not to go home using motorbikes, because it is very risky," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation asked his staff together with all relevant stakeholders to analyze and evaluate the implementation of this year's homecoming, and make improvements and breakthroughs in the implementation of the following year's homecoming.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation expressed his gratitude to all parties who have carried out a good performance in managing homecoming. "Even the President gave great attention, including giving directions for relaxation regarding the return of travelers after May 8, 2022," said the Minister of Transportation.
