Female Driver Operates First Electric Truck at Sorowako Factory
PT Vale Indonesia launched the first electric truck with a capacity of 70 tons for operation at the Sorowako factory. The launch took place at the Mobility Equipment Facility, at the PT Vale factory, Sorowako, East Luwu, South Sulawesi, Thursday 4 August 2022, by PT Vale CEO Febriany Eddy accompanied by PT Vale Vice President Director Adriansyah Chaniago and PT Vale Deputy COO Abu Ashar.
The electric truck that was launched was the CXMG type XDR-80-TE, originating from China with 100 percent electric fuel, with an auto charging feature on downhill roads. Charging every 12 hours charging for 90 minutes with a capacity of 70 tons.
On that occasion, Febriany proudly introduced the first electric truck driver, a female employee.
"Remarkably, we introduce the female electric truck driver Mrs. Yulianti Marcelina who has worked at Vale for 10 years. This is also what makes us proud at Vale, there is equality, regardless of background, women, men and even people with disabilities all have equal opportunities same at Vale as long as they have intelligence, ability and work ethic," said Febriany.
Then this electric truck is only 1 unit which is operated with a trial period of 1 year. It is important to see how small the risk is in using electric trucks in the smelter industry. If the risk is small, then it is possible to increase the number of electric trucks at the mining site.
