Harley Davidson motorcycle was found in a shopping center in Bekasi

Bekasi – West Java, A large motorcycle parked at the Senayan City (Sency) mall was stolen by thieves. After the incident went viral and was reported to the police, the Harley Davidson motorcycle was found in a shopping center in Bekasi, West Java.

Police explained how the perpetrator stole the 2008 Harley Davidson FDX motorcycle. The motorcycle was keyless. It could be started using a special method.

"The motorcycle didn't have a key. So it could be started. It's a motorcycle of that year, and it didn't have a key, so there's a way to start it," said Commissioner Martua Malau, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Tanah Abang Metro Police, Tuesday (10/14/2025).

Besides targeting the victim's motorbike, the perpetrator understood that the motorcycle could be started using a special method. The victim was drinking coffee at a cafe at the time, while the motorcycle was parked in a designated area in front of the mall.

"He (the perpetrator) already knew who owned the motorcycle," he said.

However, the police have not yet confirmed whether the perpetrator is a specialist in big bike theft. There was only one perpetrator, a man.

"We don't know if he's a specialist, but he definitely knows that motorcycle, because not just anyone can drive it," he said.

The motorcycle was finally found after the perpetrator left it in a Bekasi shopping center parking lot.

Previously, the Tanah Abang Metro Police successfully solved the theft of a Harley Davidson motorcycle worth Rp 250 million. The motorcycle was previously lost in the parking lot of the Senayan City (Sency) mall in Central Jakarta.

The luxury 2008 Harley Davidson FDX was reported missing on Sunday, October 12, 2025, by a woman with the initials NAP (27).

At the time, the victim was participating in a big bike community activity and parked the motorcycle without locking the handlebars.

The victim only realized the motorcycle was missing around 10:40 a.m. WIB, after the witness went to retrieve the helmet he had left on the motorcycle.

The vehicle was no longer in the parking lot. He then reported the incident to the Tanah Abang Metro Police.

After receiving the report, the Criminal Investigation Unit Team, led by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Commissioner Martua Malau, immediately launched an investigation.

CCTV footage showed a man taking the motorcycle away. Information about the incident was then shared on social media.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, expressed his appreciation for the speed of reporting and the police's swift response in solving this case.

"A motorcycle like this isn't just about its material value, but also about the victim's sense of security and psychological well-being. We are here to ensure that sense of security. Thank you also to the public for quickly providing information. This proves that police-community synergy is crucial," said Susatyo on Monday evening (10/13/2025).

He explained that the victim's motorcycle was finally found the day after the incident, on Monday morning, at a shopping center in Bekasi, West Java.

"We have secured the evidence and are currently investigating the identity of the perpetrator, who is still being pursued. We will continue the legal process according to the provisions," he said.

The NAP victim also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the police.

"Thank you very much to the Tanah Abang Metro Police. I am very relieved and grateful that my motorcycle was found in such a short time. I salute the police's performance," he said.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Haris Akhmad Basuki, explained that the perpetrator took advantage of the victim's carelessness in not locking his motorcycle's handlebars.

"From CCTV analysis, the perpetrator was seen quickly stealing the motorcycle. This is purely an opportunistic act of vehicle theft. After information spread on social media, we received reports from the public that the motorcycle had been spotted in Bekasi. The team immediately went to the location and successfully secured it," said the Police Chief.

He also urged residents to be more vigilant and not to leave their vehicles unlocked, especially in public places like malls.

"Double locks or additional security are highly recommended to prevent similar incidents. We will continue to strive to provide a sense of security to the community," stressed Haris.
