Public Works Department Water Tanker Truck hits Bentor
Semarang - The Semarang City Government has confirmed full responsibility for the incident involving a Public Works Department water tanker truck and a motorized pedicab (bentor) driver. The accident occurred on Jalan Abdurrahman Saleh, Semarang, on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) at around 8:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
The Semarang City Government, through the Head of the Semarang City Public Works Department, Suwarto, expressed his apologies and expressed concern over the incident. He emphasized that public safety is the top priority in all public services, including the operation of official vehicles.
The Semarang City Government has summoned and questioned the water tanker driver. As a disciplinary measure, the driver has been temporarily suspended.
That same afternoon, Semarang City Government officials, along with the Public Works Department, visited the bentor driver's home to check on the victim's condition. The tanker driver also apologized directly to the victim.
"We have met with the bentor driver to check on the victim's condition. We have temporarily suspended the official vehicle driver, and we are coordinating with the Public Works Agency (BKPP) regarding further sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
Based on the examination, the victim suffered minor injuries. The Semarang City Government is providing medical assistance and repairs to the damaged motorbike.
The Semarang City Government emphasizes that official vehicles are public service vehicles that must prioritize safety and traffic ethics. Any violations will be dealt with firmly and transparently to maintain public trust.
