Pemkot Surabaya: Vehicles are not official vehicles belonging to the Surabaya City Government
The Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) has confirmed that the red-plated vehicle with license plate number L 1901 EP, which went viral on social media after being spotted on the Bandarkedungmulyo National Arterial Road in Jombang, is not an official vehicle belonging to the Surabaya City Government.
The Head of the Surabaya City Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), Wiwiek Widayati, confirmed that her office had conducted an investigation based on the license plate number of the vehicle circulating in the video. The results showed that the vehicle is not part of the Surabaya City Government's assets, but belongs to an agency outside the city government.
"Based on our internal database, the vehicle with the license plate number does not belong to the Surabaya City Government," Wiwiek said on Tuesday (June 24, 2026).
She explained that the Surabaya City Government has strict mechanisms for managing official vehicles, especially during national holidays and collective leave periods. The final day of office activities was set for March 17, 2026, during which all official vehicles were recorded, collected, and secured that afternoon at several designated locations, including the grounds of Surabaya City Hall and the Siola Building.
As the collective leave period began on March 18, 2026, all official vehicles were unused. They were scheduled to be retrieved on March 24, 2026, and could be used starting at noon.
"Since the afternoon of March 17, 2026, all official vehicles have been collected and secured, and will not be used during the national holiday and collective leave for Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr. These vehicles can only be retrieved on March 24, 2026," he emphasized.
Wiwiek added that during the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 2026 holidays, only certain operational vehicles will remain operational, namely those directly related to public services, such as ambulances, fire engines, patrol vehicles, and sanitation and disaster response vehicles.
"Official vehicles directly related to public services are still permitted to operate, provided they are only used to carry out duties within the Surabaya area," he concluded.
