Route 40 Challenge in Argentina

Strong presence of Uruguayan pilots. They will be in Motorcycles in Desafío Ruta 40 2013 which is part of the Dakar Series calendar and is the fourth of the FIM World Rally Cross Country Championship and will also be awarding points for the Argentine Rally Cross Country Championship.


The Off Road Uruguay team will be present with eight riders, four of whom are Uruguayan: Laurent Lazard (Yamaha 450) together with Alejo Maissonave (KTM XCW-R), Fernando Vidiella (KTM 690 Rally) and Marcos Ruffinatti (KTM 450 XCW), David Casteu will also be with his backpacker Charle Cuypers, and two Argentine pilots Nicolás Roja and David Tieppo. The crew chief is Laurent Lazard.

All must complete six stages with a route of approximately 3,500 kilometers through the regions of the northwest and whose Argentine. The participants will encounter a diversity of terrain that will range from the mountainous paths with a lot of vegetation in Salta and Tucumán to the aridity of the Fiambalá Desert, in Catamarca, and the demanding roads proposed by the San Juan geography.

This new automobile event will take place between April 10 and 22, 2010 and will be the first sports competition that will cover the entire length of National Route No. 40.

From Cabo Vírgenes, province of Santa Cruz, to La Quiaca, in the extreme north of the province of Jujuy.

The race, which will last 12 days, with a rest day in the middle of the race, is an adventure designed for professionals and amateurs aboard trucks, motorcycles and quads; It will be divided into Cross Country, a full-speed competition through sections bordering Route 40, specially selected, and in the Regularity modality, in which the cars must travel certain distances in a time imposed by the organization.
