Malaysia's Local Production Line Officially Rolls Out the First Units of UD Trucks' CKD Euro 5 Range

Kuala Lumpur - The first units of the full knocked-down (CKD) Euro 5 truck range, which includes the heavy-duty UD Quester and medium-duty UD Croner, were recently released from the manufacturing line by UD Trucks and its exclusive distribution partner, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE). Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn Bhd (TCMA) conducted the local assembly at its Segambut facility.

The Euro 5 engine, which has UD Truck's Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to greatly improve fuel efficiency and environmental protection, was introduced in Malaysia during the fourth quarter of last year.

The first Japanese company to introduce and construct heavy-duty and medium-duty Euro 5 trucks in Malaysia that surpass the Euro 4 emission standards, which will take effect on April 1st, 2024, is UD Trucks with TCIE.

"As a sustainability leader among the Japanese trucks brand globally and with a long history of innovation, UD Trucks is committed to continuously offering superior emissions control technology for higher efficiency and cleaner environment," stated Steve Hedouin, Managing Director Hub Malaysia, UD Trucks. Our company goal of using sustainable transportation solutions to create "Better Lives" for people, the environment, and business is shown by our new Euro 5 truck line.

"Our clients in Malaysia will have the chance to embrace good developments and future-proof their logistics operations in a more competitive way thanks to the new Euro 5 series, which is locally produced by our seasoned partner Tan Chong Group. We have no doubt that the new CKD Euro 5 Quester and Croner will provide integrated sustainability across the logistical operations and procedures of our clients.

"As part of the Tan Chong Group, we are proud to roll-out the new CKD Euro 5 UD Quester and Croner, as it signifies the enduring partnership between UD Trucks and TCIE," said Teck Ming, Chief Operating Officer, TCIE. We have been building the heavy-duty Quester and medium-duty Croner since 2016 and 2018, respectively, and it makes sense for all of our stakeholders—especially our customers—to continue with the new Euro 5 range.

The UD Euro 5 CKD trucks, with their new pollution control engines and major enhancements, will assist our clients' logistics operations lower their overall cost of ownership, increase business efficiency, and lessen their impact on the environment. Crucially, the vehicles will provide operators with efficiency at a reasonable cost.

The firms claim that cab welding and trimming, chassis assembly, and end-of-line inspection of the completely constructed trucks are all part of the CKD manufacturing at TCMA. The manufacturing team at UD Trucks International supported the production build-up at TCMA by securing procedures and equipment for assembly readiness, training operators on the assembly line, and conducting quality control and inspection to guarantee a good conclusion at every stage.

The businesses also disclosed that they now receive sizable orders from a number of important logistics clients, which will be fulfilled by the continuous manufacture of CKD. In response to new requests, manufacturing of additional units will be increased.

Say said, "Many of our long-time customers have actually expressed their willingness to support environmental sustainability and implement greener trucking solutions." UD Trucks and TCIE are always willing to provide the support and expertise needed to help them make the long-term, cost-effective switch to a cleaner fleet.

The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology in the new Euro 5 range greatly improves fuel efficiency and environmental protection. It has reduced emissions of particulate matter (PM) by 80% and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 60% compared to current Euro 3 norms. Additionally, compared to an identical Euro 3 truck, Euro 5 engines use less gasoline and emit less CO2.

All 26 of TCIE's branches and dealers in Malaysia will carry AdBlue, a safe-to-use diesel exhaust fluid used in cars with SCR technology to lessen the discharge of dangerous pollutants like NOx into the atmosphere.
