Sunmaju's Euro 5 Quester UD Trucks Set the Standard for Environmental Impact Reduction

As the first firm in Malaysia's petroleum sector to add UD Trucks' most recent Euro 5 commercial trucks to its fleet, Sunmaju Sdn Bhd (Sunmaju), a commercial fuels reseller, is setting the standard for greater sustainability. Two heavy-duty Euro 5 Quester trucks that Sunmaju had acquired from Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd's (TCIE) Batu Caves dealership were delivered during a recent vehicle handover ceremony to commemorate this historic event.

Founded more than 20 years ago, Sunmaju is a domestic Malaysian enterprise that began modestly with only two fuel tankers. To aid with operations, the business purchased its first UD vehicle in 2005. It now operates a fleet of 57 UD trucks and is the approved commercial fuels partner for major oil corporations in Malaysia, including Petronas, Shell, and Petron.

"We are honored and proud to be the first company in the petroleum segment in Malaysia to adopt UD Trucks’ Euro 5 Quester, as this signifies our commitment in striving to be an environmentally and socially responsible company," said John Foo, Director of Sunmaju Sdn Bhd, during the handover ceremony.

Our company operates countrywide, transporting not just diesel but also gasoline and aviation fuel. Because the trucks will guarantee the safe and efficient running of our whole business, their quality and dependability are crucial.

He continued by saying that Sunmaju has been utilizing UD trucks for about 20 years and that the company's in-house telemetry system, which offers real-time updates, and TCIE's round-the-clock after-sales technical assistance have revolutionized fleet operations.

"Our fleet is the foundation of our success, propelling Sunmaju's path, which has been based on collaboration and innovation. With all the help, we are ready to expand and use the new Euro 5 Quester trucks to improve sustainability. We are very happy to announce that we plan to replace some of our Euro 3 Quester units with more Euro 5 Quester units in the future," he stated.

Prior to Malaysia's Euro 4 emission requirements, the heavy-duty Euro 5 Quester and the medium-duty Euro 5 Croner were debuted last year. The trucks, which are built locally at Tan Chong Motor Assemblies Sdn Bhd's plant, are notable for their Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, which may greatly improve fuel efficiency and environmental protection.

"We would like to thank and congratulate Sunmaju for steering the way forward with our Euro 5 Quester trucks," stated Steve Hedouin, Managing Director Hub Malaysia, UD Trucks. The handover today is an example of Sunmaju's innovative attitude in revolutionizing the sector and staying one step ahead of competitors in its endeavor to reduce environmental effect.

UD vehicles claims that compared to existing Euro 3 vehicles, Euro 5 trucks may cut emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 60% and particulate matter (PM) by 80%. Additionally, compared to an identical Euro 3 truck, Euro 5 engines use less gasoline and emit less CO2.

More businesses are committing to sustainability and choose to collaborate with partners that have similar objectives in light of the pressing need to address today's environmental concerns. As a result, it is imperative that UD Trucks keep offering solutions to the sector that may boost corporate efficiency while opening the door for our clients to enhance their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating," he stated.

The I-Coaching system, which helps drivers increase safety and fuel economy, and UD Connected Services, which helps businesses monitor their trucks, are two of the productivity-boosting features of the Euro 5 Quester. Additionally, the Escot automated gearbox lessens driver fatigue by making heavy-duty truck driving easier by relieving the strain of changing gears, allowing drivers to focus entirely on road safety.

"On behalf of TCIE, we would like to thank Sunmaju for entrusting us with their logistical needs since 2005," stated Loh Thim Choy, Senior General Manager of TCIE, at the event. Being able to assist with their day-to-day operations and make sure their UD fleet operates well is a huge honor. TCIE and UD Trucks will continue to go above and beyond to help Sunmaju's company by offering cutting-edge Japanese solutions that are pertinent for productivity and lowering environmental impact, just like Sunmaju's success is based on innovation and collaboration.
