CPO Transport Truck Overturned in Belawan, Residents Fight for Spilled Oil
Belawan - A truck carrying 28 tons of CPO overturned in Belawan, Medan, Saturday (10/9/2022) causing the cargo to spill onto the road. It is suspected that the truck driver fell asleep and lost control.
The fateful truck with the license plate number BK 8864 FG entered a ditch in the Belmera Toll Road area of Line B KM 1100 to be precise in Kurnia Village, Medan Belawan District.
Seeing the incident, dozens of residents came to the location. They scrambled to pick up the spilled oil to be transferred to jerry cans and drums.
The incident had made it difficult for officers to regulate on the toll road.
According to information, the truck driver named Haryanto was driving the truck from Medan to Belawan. He was surprised when a car cut from the left so he swerved.
"The plan is to take it to a storage tank in Ujung Baru, Belawan," said the truck owner named Leo.
There were no casualties in that incident. The Belawan Harbor Police Traffic Unit is still investigating the accident and evacuating the truck from the ditch.
