North Sumatra Police Send 57 Trucks of Building Materials for Earthquake Affected Victims in Taput

North Tapanuli Regency - The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) sent dozens of trucks of aid in the form of materials for victims affected by the earthquake in North Tapanuli Regency (Taput).


The building materials were distributed through the Integrated Natural Disaster Management Post.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, said that the dozens of trucks sent by the North Sumatran Police for the Taput earthquake victims were in the form of building materials such as cement, iron, bricks, zinc and the like.

"It has been recorded that we have sent 57 trucks to North Tapanuli (Taput) from the North Sumatra Police and their ranks, in the form of material assistance for victims affected by the earthquake," said Kombes Hadi when confirmed Monday (10/10) night.

Kombes Hadi said that with the assistance distributed through the Taput earthquake post, it could ease and accelerate the recovery of people's lives in North Tapanuli.

"We hope this can help ease the burden on our brothers and sisters in North Tapanuli (Taput) who were affected by the earthquake. This is to support the repair of houses which are a priority, in accordance with the order of the Regional Police Chief, so that conditions there can quickly recover, "he said.

Previously, the North Sumatra Police and their ranks had sent 12 trucks in the form of basic food assistance to earthquake victims in North Tapanuli.

The North Sumatra Police also sent 295 personnel to the earthquake-affected locations to support rescue efforts, build refugee tents and clean up debris caused by the earthquake.

Verification Results 1,285 Damaged Houses

Head of the Secretariat of the Command Post for the Emergency Handling of the North Tapanuli Earthquake (Taput) Indra Sahat Hottua Simaremare said the number of houses damaged by the earthquake was 1,285 houses.

The data on the number of houses damaged by the 6.0 magnitude earthquake in North Tapanuli Regency (Taput) on Saturday (1/10), was based on the results of the verification and validation carried out.

"Although there were 2,626 damaged houses reported, based on the results of verification and data validation at the post secretariat, only 1,285 damaged houses will be rehabilitated," said Indra Sahat Hottua Simaremare in Tarutung, Friday (7/10).

He explained the rehabilitated houses according to the damage category.

Based on the verified data, the number of houses that suffered minor damage was 64 units, 606 units were moderately damaged, and 588 houses suffered severe damage.

The rehabilitation of houses damaged by the earthquake, which is a priority for the Taput Earthquake Command, is spread across 17 villages/kelurahan, namely in Tarutung District, nine villages.

Furthermore, in Sipoholon District there are seven villages, Parmonangan District nine villages, Pagaran District nine villages, Siatasbarita District, and Pahae Julu District two villages.

"Handling damage to residents' houses is the first priority in order to immediately provide a sense of comfort and security for earthquake victims," ​​he said.

According to Indra, after the handling of residents' houses is completed, the Command Post will then handle the next targets such as houses of worship, public facilities, and damaged government-owned facilities.

“Currently, we are distributing the materials needed. The rehabilitation work will be carried out independently by the community," he said.
