Drunk Container Truck Driver Causes Motorcyclist to be Hit
Tangerang - Container truck B 9244 UWV driven by Irpan Hanafiah (29) hit 2 motorcyclists on the Serang - Tangerang Highway, precisely in Cikande Asem, Cikande District, Serang Regency, Tuesday afternoon (13/8/2024).
Tragically, one motorbike that was stuck under the truck was dragged 800 meters, causing the motorcyclist to die at the scene. Meanwhile, sparks caused by friction with the road caused the truck to catch fire.
It was obtained that before the traffic accident occurred, the B 9244 UWV truck was known to be driving from Serang towards Tangerang. Upon arriving at the scene, it hit a Honda Vario B 3849 UXV driven by Aris Munandar (29) who was about to turn into the PT Bulog warehouse area.
Instead of stopping his vehicle, the container truck driver stepped on the gas. While trying to escape, the container truck hit the Honda GL A 4365 FA driven by Tarmuji Minto (52), a resident of Penamping Village, Bandung District, Serang Regency.
The victim and his vehicle went under the truck and were dragged 800 meters when the container truck driver tried to escape. The victim Tarmuji died at the scene.
Residents together with members of the Traffic Police and Koramil who were aware of the traffic accident tried to chase using motorbikes.
The truck finally stopped after being stopped by another vehicle. The victim's motorbike which was under the truck then caught fire and spread to the body of the truck. As a result, both vehicles finally caught fire.
Serang Police Chief, AKBP Condro Sasongko confirmed the incident. In the accident, one person died. Meanwhile, the container truck and motorbike caught fire due to friction with the road.
"There were 2 victims of the hit and run who were motorbike riders. One driver died and the other was injured," said the Police Chief accompanied by Traffic Police Chief AKP Tiwi Afrina and Law Enforcement Unit Chief Ipda Sandhi Pribadi.
Condro explained that the police had succeeded in securing the container truck driver. However, his members had not yet conducted an investigation because the driver, a resident of Ranca Sumur Village, Kopo District, Serang Regency, was under the influence of alcohol.
"The perpetrator has just been secured and it is not possible to question him because he is very drunk," explained the Police Chief. (Yono)
