The Crepe Truck

Campus - All year long, a fresh crepe wrapped around a delectable blend of fruit, Nutella, and whipped cream is a pleasant treat. The following is Nutshell's guide to the much-loved Crepe Truck. Good appetite!

Most Temple Owls are familiar with this truck, since the North Philly-based creperie frequently appears on citywide ranking lists. But if you're a freshman or transfer student (welcome!) who hasn't yet tried a delectable powdered-sugar-dusted or feta-sauced crepe, you're in for a treat.

A campus favorite is the Crepe Truck, which is stationed on Norris Street in front of the Tyler School of Art. For numerous years in a row, readers of The Temple News voted it the best food truck.

What makes The Crepe Truck so popular with students? It might be because of the fresh ingredients, generous quantities, and affordable costs. Or the menu, which has a wide choice of sweet and savory crepes, making it a fantastic venue to fulfill a variety of appetites and preferences (next time you're looking for a place to dine with friends, head straight to The Crepe Truck: less arguing, more crepe eating).

The savory alternatives are $6 and include the Dozer (ribs with barbecue sauce and ranch dressing) and Madi's Veggie (vegetables, mozzarella, feta, pesto and pineapple). You may also customize your own savory crepe by selecting a meat (from sirloin to lamb to shellfish) and toppings (each one includes mozzarella, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and sauteed spinach but can be modified upon request).

The $5.50 dessert selections include both healthy options like fresh fruits and anything indulgent. The Crepe Truck is the ideal place to fulfill a sweet taste with items like the S'mores crepe (marshmallow Fluff, graham crackers, and Nutella) or the Berries Cheesecake crepe (cheesecake, strawberries, and blueberries).

The Crepe Truck also provides wonderful seasonal specials, such as last year's Pumpkin Spice crepe and a Valentine's crepe (cheesecake spread, red velvet cake, Nutella, and icing—fingers crossed for a similar special this February).

You definitely won't eat your Valentine's crepe outside, but when the weather warms up, the truck's placement right next to Tyler's grassy hill and the new sidewalk-table layout provide lots of places to linger out and appreciate your cuisine. Meanwhile, The Crepe Truck is well worth braving the weather for.
