Dozens of Trucks Operating the East Java Food Barn Market at 25 Points

SURABAYA – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa dispatched dozens of trucks transporting basic commodities for the operation of the East Java Food Barn market at 25 BPS sampling market points.


From the Grahadi State Building, Sunday (25/9/2022), dozens of these trucks headed to 25 markets spread across 8 regencies/cities in East Java.

Governor Khofifah emphasized the operation of the East Java Food Barn market as an effort by the East Java Provincial Government to control inflation, increase people's purchasing power and help ease the burden on the community after the fuel price hike.

"Today, we are building a commitment together, we can handle the impact of the increase in fuel prices well. The operation of the East Java Food Barn Market maintains people's purchasing power after the fuel price adjustment, "said Khofifah.

The former Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Women's Empowerment emphasized that the 25 target points were Mangli Market and Kreongan Jember; then Jajag Market, Tile Market 1, Blambangan Market, Rogojampi Market, Banyuwangi Market in Kab. Banyuwangi; and Anom Baru Market, Bangkal Market, Kab. Sumenep, Pasar Besar, Starfruit Market, and Dinoyo Market in Malang City.

In addition, to Wonokromo Market, Tile Market, Pucang Anom Market, Soponyono Market in Surabaya City; Wonoasih Market and Pasar Baru in Probolinggo City; Setono Betek Market and Pahing Market in Kediri City; and the Sleko Market and the Big Market in Madiun City.

At each point of the East Java Food Barn Market Operation, they sell purebred chicken, cooking oil, chicken eggs, shallots, sugar, rice, curly chilies, cayenne pepper, and beef. All of these commodities are sold at prices below market prices.

Specifically for East Java Food Barn Market Operations, BPS-Statistics Indonesia cooperates with BPS-Statistics Indonesia in 25 markets in East Java sampling BPS.

“From Rp257 billion, one of them is for market operations so that the BPS sampling is done. We want to strengthen the community through a program to strengthen purchasing power,” he explained.

This program continues to be evaluated every week about its impact and impact, by BPS East Java.

This inflation control program maintains the stabilization and control of inflation in East Java.

"We hope that people's purchasing power will continue to be controlled gradually, the welfare of the community will be maintained, and in line with Allah's blessing," he added.

President Director of PT JGU Mirza Muttaqien appreciated Governor Khofifah for involving him in the operation of this East Java food barn market.

The advantage of this program is that there is a sharing of the financing burden. Purchase of synergized commodities from BUMD, PT JGU and PT Bank Jatim. Transportation and operational costs are supported by the East Java Regional Budget.

"At every market point, commodities are provided at a price that is cheaper than the market price because most of the components are financed by the East Java Provincial Government Budget," said Mirza.

Head of BPS East Java, Dadang Hardiwan, said that related to inflation, the most volatile public expenditure is food, volatile food.

He said Governor Khofifah's strategy of conducting market and low-cost market operations to contain price fluctuations was the right step.

The reason is that this step will be able to create people's purchasing power. He revealed that the increase in fuel prices on September 3 had an impact on inflation in East Java.
