Hino Truck Loaded with Coal Vs Basaruma Jaya Bus Crossing the Cipali Toll Road
There have been two traffic accidents between passenger buses and trucks that occurred on the Cipali Toll Road and Purbaleunyi Toll Road on Monday 8 May 2023.
The tragedy involved two cars, namely a Coal-laden Hino Truck and a Basaruma Jaya Bus which was crossing the Cipali Toll Road, causing six people to be injured and had to be evacuated to the Purwakarta Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
Public Relations of Astra Toll Cipali Asri Fajarwati Ridwan said the accident occurred at KM 86, Subang area on the Ambon or Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) route.
"The accident occurred at KM 86, no victims died. ASTRA Toll Cipali officers evacuated 2 seriously injured victims and 4 lightly injured to Radjak Purwakarta Hospital," he said.
Asei explained that the accident was allegedly caused by the bus driver's sleepiness, who was unable to control the steering wheel of his vehicle.
"It is suspected that the Basaruma Jaya Bus vehicle did not control the speed of the vehicle, so the vehicle was out of control," he stated.
Meanwhile, in a traffic jam on the Purbaleunyi Toll Road section KM 125, line A, Cimahi City, from Jakarta to Bandung, a passenger bus crashed into the back of a Colt Diesel truck which was stopped on the shoulder of the road.
Head of the Cimahi Police Traffic Unit, Ipda Bayu Subakti, said that the traffic jam started when the bus with police number H 1429 DB driven by Sudarja was heading from Jakarta to Bandung.
While at the scene, the vehicle swerved to the left and hit a cold diesel truck with plate number E 8963 VL driven by Muhammad Arief.
"The incident occurred from behind the bus traveling at moderate speed without the driver being able to control it until it swerved to the left and hit the back of a truck," he said.
As a result of the collision, continued Bayu, the truck was pushed into the right lane or the fast lane so that it could hinder the speed of other vehicles. The position of the vehicle stopped hitting the separator in the middle of the toll road.
"After receiving the accident information, we immediately conducted a traffic investigation and evacuated the vehicles involved in the accident," he said.
Bayu added that there were no fatalities due to the accident. However, the bus driver and conductor suffered minor injuries and were immediately taken to the nearest hospital," he said.
Currently the traffic flow on the Purbaleunyi Toll Road from Jakarta to Bandung has returned to normal. Drivers are advised to be careful especially when it rains.
"Traffic flow is now normal again after being hampered due to the accident. We urge motorists to be careful on the toll road, not to push when they are tired and when it rains it minimizes the potential for accidents," said Bayu.
