Oil Palm Transport Truck Overturned Due to Damaged Road

Sariagri - Damaged roads hinder the flow of transportation or delivery of commodities produced by farmers' gardens. As happened when a truck carrying a cargo of oil palm fruit overturned while crossing a damaged and slippery road in the Toto Makmur Village area, Batu Putih District, Tulang Bawang Barat Regency, Lampung Province, Monday (10/10/2022) afternoon. .

The condition of the dirt road which is slippery and becomes like a puddle of mud after the rain, plus the downward contour and large stones in the middle of the road, allegedly makes the truck driver unable to balance his vehicle, until the truck rolls over in the road ditch.

A number of residents helped evacuate the truck by pulling it using a tractor, after previously unloading the entire load for easy towing.

“The road is very slippery when it rains, so it is difficult for me to control the speed of the car. I hope that the damaged road will be repaired soon,” said Fadhil, the driver of the overturned truck to the media crew.

As a result of the accident, other cars could not pass and there was a long line. Another truck driver was disappointed because he had to spend more operating money waiting for the truck to overturn in the evacuation.

"We are disappointed, we have paid taxes but the roads have not been repaired," said Maskur, one of the truck drivers waiting in line at a shop.

After an evacuation process that lasted for 8 hours, the oil palm transport truck was finally evacuated and moved to a safer place.

According to residents and drivers, the sub-district roads are a scourge for motorists during the rainy season. In fact, from the information collected, more than one vehicle can slip and roll over a day in the same location.

Residents and motorists also asked the government to immediately repair roads, so that transportation access to transport garden and agricultural products can be smooth and the community can be more prosperous.
