Truck Driver who Became an Artist

The ability to practice vocals can be owned by anyone, also for a driver and truck conductor in the city of Bandung named Ajab. Ajab's ability to sing attracted music label 21Hom Record and brought her to the recording studio.

Ajab when interviewed through his WhatsApp account on Friday (15/4/2022) said that he worked as a truck driver and conductor at PT. Pindad International Logistics. Incidentally the company established a music label. Seeing Ajab's talent for singing, he was invited to record.

As explained by Ajab, he was trusted to sing a song called Evil, by Ahmad Soebastio, Bassis Sahara, one of Indonesia's legendary bands. The Malay Pop genre song was released by 21Hom Record on Thursday, April 14, 2022 on various digital music platforms, and the 21HOM RECORD YouTube channel.

According to Ajab, the song Jahat tells the story of a wife who is always dissatisfied with her husband's hard work. Finally, her husband gave up and asked to separate.

“Through the song Evil, I gave a message. Be grateful for what your partner has. Big or small, it is sustenance from Allah Ta'ala," said Ajab.

Malay Pop Songs currently dominate most of the music market in the country, thus making the competition even tighter among fellow activists of the music genre. But Ajab is optimistic that he will compete, armed with his own character and abilities in singing Pop Melayu. Moreover, the song Evil released by Ajab was produced by legendary and experienced musicians, such as; Ahmad Soebastio, Gangan Sahara (guitar), Bule Mayor 7 (drums), and Ovy /rif (string section), and produced at 21Hom Record Studio – Bandung.

“I like to sing Malay songs, because it is more challenging to sing them,” said Ajab.

Ajab claimed to be from Wado Girang Village, Sumedang City, currently he lives in Bandung City. Since childhood he has loved to sing. In 2005 when he was in high school, he liked to sing classical dangdut songs, such as those performed by H. Rhoma Irama, Mansyur S, Meggy Z, A. Rafiq, and others.

Ajab has long kept her dream of becoming a singer. One of the efforts he has made to make it happen is by participating in various audition events at television stations, such as KDI, Dangdut Academy, Dangdut Mania Impromptu, and others.

“The blessing of Ramadan for me, finally Allah Ta'ala brought me to 21Hom Record. Without meeting the music label team, it would be impossible for me to record. Even though I am a truck driver and conductor, I want to be a successful singer. I want to make my parents, extended family, and people around me happy, in any form,” said Ajab.
