High-Level Discussions at the President's Hambalang Residence Are Spurred by Global Unrest

Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto had good reason to call his ministers to his private home in Hambalang on Monday, June 23, 2025, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.  The purpose of the private meeting was to talk about current world events and how they affect Indonesia.

The discussion covered strategic measures that must be prepared as well as the changing global scenario and its possible effects on Indonesia.

High-ranking officials were seen in the accompanying photo, including Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsuddin, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan. 

Indonesian Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid were also in attendance.  Prasetyo Hadi, the state secretary, and a number of other high-ranking officials also attended the meeting.

Following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of American military attacks targeting Iranian installations, the Indonesian government apparently took this action in reaction to the growing geopolitical crisis.  The U.S. action followed Israeli airstrikes that struck multiple Iranian military and nuclear sites starting on June 13, 2025.

Since then, Iran has attacked Israel in retaliation with drones and missiles.  To date, hundreds have been injured and over 400 people have died as a result of the war. (red)
