The Executive Chairman of the Garut Branch of the Indonesian Off-Road Federation (IOF), Asep Mulyana, publicly apologized for holding an event in the Gunung Cikuray Protected Forest in Garut Regency some time ago.
He made this statement before the Berkah Tani Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD) on Monday (July 14, 2025).
Previously, the Berkah Tani LPHD stated that, in addition to the green peafowl habitat, several ecosystems in the Gunung Cikuray Protected Forest, which was intended to be designated as a conservation and protection area, were threatened by the off-road event.
Asep Mulyana apologized for the incident on behalf of the entire Garut IOF branch and the organizing committee for the IOF's 3rd Anniversary event.
He also agreed with the Berkah Tani LPHD to jointly rehabilitate some of the damage caused by the event.
Asep revealed that the route had actually been used off-road several times. However, he was unaware that the area's status had changed. Therefore, Asep also invited fellow Off-Roaders who intend to hold off-road activities in forest areas to first ask clearly about the status of the area so that things like this do not happen again.
