A Fuso Truck Loaded with Palm Kernel Falls into a River in Lamandau

Nanga Bulik - A fuso truck loaded with palm kernel fell into the river after crashing into the barrier of a pedestrian bridge in the oil palm plantation area owned by PT Sawit Mandiri Lestari (SML), Karang Taba Village, Lamandau District.

The unlucky truck with police number AG 9267 VD belonging to CV Sri Rejeki Cangkang was driven by Ahmad Saliman. The single accident occurred on Saturday, March 25 2023, around 12.00.

Efforts to evacuate and search for victims were carried out by the Lamandau Police, Basarnas and the Lamandau District BPBD. Until evening, the victim and the fuso truck transporting the palm kernels had not been found.

"After asking for help, we immediately rushed to the scene of the incident," said the Chief Executive (Kalaksa) of the Lamandau Regency BPBD, Gustoni when confirmed on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Meanwhile, Head of Traffic Unit of the Lamandau Police, Iptu Muhammad Romadhon, explained that the accident is expected to occur at around 12.00 WIB. This is because the fuso truck was recorded as having entered PT SML's factory at 08.05 WIB to load.

“The new truck came out at 11.35 WIB. It is estimated that not long after the truck left, the accident occurred," he explained.

After carrying out investigations at the crime scene, the truck allegedly crashed into the bridge barrier and plunged into the river because the wooden bridge floor became slippery due to the rain.

"Before arriving at the bridge, the fuso trucks go through a dirt road, making it even more slippery," he said.

However, the police have not dared to draw conclusions and admit that they are still asking for statements from several witnesses.

"Later we will convey the results," concluded Romadhon.
